The Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA (PHS) is introducing its newest team member, the Wiggle Waggle Wagon (aka The Waggin’). This brand new, custom-designed vehicle is a 35-foot “shelter on wheels” aimed to bring adoptable pets into the community, increase access to PHS programs and services, and disaster relief.

In the coming year, the vehicle will rack up thousands of miles traveling to businesses and events to help animals find new homes and assist community members with their pet related needs. To help achieve this mission, the Waggin’ comes fully equipped with space for 20 animals, nine volunteers, and modern amenities like a TV to showcase adoptable pets waiting for homes at the shelter.

The Waggin’ will enable PHS to increase the reach of its Helping Paws program through bringing services such as mobile vaccine clinics, pet food drives and education in the community. In times of natural disaster, the Waggin’ will serve as an emergency response vehicle stationed in the field. Animal control officers, medical staff and other key personnel will be present in the community where they are needed and pet owners will be able to bring their pets to the Waggin’ for safe transport back to PHS.

On a lighter note, each weekend the Waggin’ will bring dogs, cats and even the occasional rabbit to adoption events across the San Gabriel Valley with a goal of finding loving homes for the critters in our care. For the dogs, the outing is great way for their personalities to shine and for potential adopters to meet their new family members outside of the kennel environment.

“We are thrilled to hit the road with this incredibly important addition to the PHS fleet,” says Julie Bank, President/CEO of the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA. “The Waggin’ will help us reach deeper into the communities we serve and provide critical programs and services to pets and pet owners in need.”

The Waggin’ was made possible by generous donations from the Flora L. Thornton Foundation, Wells Fargo Foundation, Petco Foundation and the Donald Slavik Family Foundation.

The Waggin’ will be officially unveiled at a media and public ceremony on Wednesday, February 15 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Pasadena Humane Society. Visitors are encouraged to hop aboard for a tour and meet some adoptable pets in the unit.
