City Public Health Department inspectors have temporarily closed Mijares Mexican Restaurant’s 1806 E. Washington Blvd. location in north Pasadena.

The restaurant was shut down on February 25 for a cockroach infestation and other violations, according to the city’s website.

Environmental Health Division Manager Liza Frias said that as of 2 p.m. Thursday the facility has yet to be re-opened to the public.

Posted Public Health Department records from the inspection conducted that day shows the restaurant only received a score of 56 out of a possible 100 points.  A passing score is 85.

The Washington Blvd. location is a smaller, neighborhood version of the original restaurant, which is located miles away near Huntington Memorial Hospital at 145 Palmetto Drive. The original location of Mijares is not affected by the closure and is in good standing with the Public Health Dept.
