“Sharing is caring!” – How many times did you hear that when you didn’t want to give a piece of cake to your friend? A recent study analyzed the relationship between oxytocin and food sharing and voila! It all turns out to be true.

Known as the “bonding hormone,” oxytocin is associated with feelings of intimacy and plays a strong role in social recognition, pair bonding and sexual relationships.

Research found the high levels of oxytocin that result from sharing food can trigger cooperative relationships in chimps, much like breastfeeding releases oxytocin that fosters the connection between mothers and their offspring. Male primates historically shared food with females to attract them for sex exchanges.

Now, romance is a little more complicated than that, but if your date offers you a bite of their food, they might just be a keeper. Share some Fried Calamari with Marinara Sauce or Sweet Chili Aioli or some Buffalo Wings with Carrot, Celery, Buffalo Sauce and Ranch Dressing in City Café.

They also have an amazing assortment of hand crafted pizzaswhich are perfect for sharing!

City Café is located at 607 N. Azusa Ave. in Azusa and can be reached by calling (626) 633-0269. Check out their full menu online by visiting www.citycafeazusa.com.
