Wilcon to Deploy New High-Speed Fiber Optic Routes Throughout Pasadena

Wilcon, one of the largest fiber optics networks in Southern California, is about to deploy new fiber optic routes throughout Pasadena.

The major investment, according to Wilcon, will help support the “entrepreneurship, research and innovation currently prospering in the region” by modernizing the existing fiber optics network and installing lines where they are non-existent.

“It’s our core competency,” Reginald Scales, Wilcon Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing, said. “We look to connect you whether you’re higher end, health care, public and private institutions, and it’s just a natural progression for us to build routes throughout Pasadena-San Gabriel Valley and all the areas there.”

The Pasadena build follows recent Wilcon fiber-optic expansion in Hollywood and North San Diego County.

“We’re getting more routes downtown Los Angeles. Orange County is very viably rich. To be more specific, Anaheim near the Pond and the Angel Stadium, Disney, Coachella… all of the business package in the dense areas, all of the density areas, these areas of business population, we’re putting routes in. We’re being very aggressive about expanding our fiber,” Scales said.

The project would also greatly help education, among other fields, in Pasadena. Scales said they are determined to meet the growing demand for bandwidth among school districts, saying they recently filled a major contract in Orange Country where the schools are pushing for 40GB connections.

In Pasadena, the new and improved network will also enable local businesses, schools, civic organizations and artist networks to send and exchange files at a faster rate than ever before.

Berkeley Communications (BerkCom), an IT and cloud solution provider with regional locations in Pasadena and South Pasadena, is one of those companies that will benefit from the deployment.

Founder Tim Naple says the need for fiber-based, last-mile connectivity to local Pasadena-area businesses and institutions is critical.

“Wilcon’s new routes and ability to connect local customers’ needs to the major sources of that bandwidth based in downtown Los Angeles are vital to the long-term growth of both our business and region.”
