With Sunny, Warm Days Rolling On, Pasadena Sits In a Sea of Dryness

The National Weather Service predicts another week of sunny clear skies in the mid-seventies with humidity about 27 percent lies ahead of us, pretty much a duplicate of last week. Rainfall isn’t contemplated anytime soon.

Overall, said David Simeral of the Western Regional Climate Center the past week was unseasonably warm (three to fifteen degrees above normal) across the entire West with some record high temperatures observed in California.

The continuing dry warmth has worsened drought conditions, according to the United States Drought Monitor.

Even with Northern California’s series of strong Pacific storms which came ashore last week and continued throughout the weekend conditions compared with last February have intensified, according to the Monitor’s most recent maps.

According to the California Department of Water Resources, California’s snowpack (snow water equivalent) is currently at 27 percent of normal.

In Pasadena, the City’s Level 1 Water Supply Shortage Plan now in effect through March 31 restricts Pasadena property owners to watering outdoors one day per week, on Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday. Sprinkler timers must be set to water before 9 a.m. or after 6 p.m.
