A woman has been charged with killing a 75-year-old woman at her Pasadena home, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced today.
Mary Jean O’Connor, 41, a transient in the North Hollywood area, faces one count of murder.
Arraignment is scheduled today in Department D of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Pasadena Branch. The case was filed on Dec. 28.
Victim Jeri Douglas was discovered strangled to death by police performing a welfare check on Dec. 17, prosecutors said.
Pasadena Fire Department paramedics responded to her condominium in the 200 block of South Madison Avenue and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
If convicted as charged, O’Connor faces a possible maximum sentence of 25 years to life in state prison. Bail is set at $2 million.
Deputy District Attorney Ryan Erlich is the assigned prosecutor.
The case remains under investigation by the Pasadena Police Department.
