A woman barely managed to escape a terrifying attempted kidnapping by a man she didn’t know Friday night and the suspect remains on the loose, Pasadena police said.

Authorities say the woman was walking home on Marengo Avenue at Penn Street when at about 10 p.m. the suspect drove up alongside her and tried to engage her victim in conversation.

The victim ignored him, prompting the suspect to stop and get out of his car. He approached the victim and physically forced her into the front passenger seat of his car.  The suspect managed to close the passenger door and get back into the car on the driver’s side.

In her efforts to escape, the victim struck the suspect once in the face and once in the groin area and managed to get out of the car before the suspect could accelerate. After she escaped, the suspect sped off  northbound and out of sight.

The suspect is described as an black man in his late 30’s, bald, clean shaven, medium complexion, wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

The suspect vehicle is described as a newer model Honda CRV or similar type, gray in color, stock in appearance.
