After winning a sweep at Los Angeles Harbor College November 14, the Pasadena City College women’s volleyball team closed its 2014 season Wednesday when it was swept by host and five-time, South Coast Conference champion El Camino College, 25-12, 25-14, 25-11. The Lancers saw a 6-year streak of advancing to the SoCal playoffs end as well.

PCC finished the schedule at 5-16 overall and 5-9 in sixth place of the SCC. Only a year ago, the Lancers were the No. 14-ranked team in the state. The team never reached the State Top 25 rankings this season.

State No. 9-ranked El Camino went a perfect 14-0 to clinch another SCC crown.

Freshman outside hitter Lahiz Longobardi added five kills and nine digs in her finale as she remained one of the conference’s top hitters at 3.4 per set along with a 2.5 digs average.

Againt LA Harbor, PCC won by set scores of 25-14, 25-21, 25-19. Four of the team’s victories this season were against seventh-place LA Trade Tech and the eighth-place Seahawks. The Lancers split their mathches against fifth-place East Los Angeles. Pasadena was swept 13 times in its 16 defeats and won just 19 sets in 21 matches.
