On Wednesday, November 7, the Pasadena Community Foundation’s Yes, Virginia component fund’s annual Classy & Sassy Boutique and Luncheon will be held at the Altadena Town and Country Club, shopping, wining and dining for a cause.

“We raise money, we give grants to nonprofits who have holiday parties, and buy books and toys for children,” said Jennifer Fleming DeVoll, Pasadena Community Foundation President and CEO.

For 23 years, the Yes, Virginia Fund has raised money to support children at the holidays in the Pasadena area and has operated on a unique model that gives away half the money it raises each year and invests the other half in an endowment that will sustain the grant program in perpetuity.

The Yes, Virginia Fund was named after the famous 1897 editorial published by the New York Sun in which eight-year-old Virginia O’Hanlon wrote to the editor, Frank Church, to ask if there really was a Santa Claus.

Church’s famous reply, “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus,” has become part of popular Christmas folklore.

Luncheon vendors include handcrafted jewelry, home goods, food, and more.

A percentage of proceeds will be donated to the fund.

“We invest the other half into an endowment so that the Yes Virginia fund will have money to distribute these grants every year forever,” explained DeVoll.

This year the event will honor Michelle Tyson and be chaired by Diana Rafeedie-Nofal.

Tickets for the Luncheon and Boutique are $70.00. The Boutique begins at 10:30 a.m followed by the luncheon at 12:30 p.m. The Altadena Town and Country Club is located at 2290 Country Club Drive.
