A high-school aged girl accidentally drove a car through the front plate glass window of a 7-Eleven store in East Pasadena about 12:30 a.m. Sunday before her three young friends fled on foot and she moved a promotional sign, reversed, and drove away.

No one inside was injured during the incident at the 227 S. Rosemead Blvd. convenience store.

A witness shot cellphone video of the entire incident.

California Highway Patrol responded to the scene. Officers viewed the cellphone video and took a report of the hit and run.

A second witness, Ricardo Mendoza, said he and his girlfriend were sitting his car listening to music when they heard the crash.

“We looked around and we saw there was a car going through the front of the store,” Mendoza said. “The girls jumped out … three ran northbound on Rosemead. One ran southbound.”

Mendoza said the young driver got out.

“She was trying to move stuff around the car, trying to free it up. Her friends booked it. Then she just jumped in the car and was able to lodge it loose, start it up and pull down and drove … north on Rosemead Boulevard.”

Mendoza said all the girls appeared to be between the ages of 15 to 17, “like high schoolers.”
