A multitude of activities is underway in and near Pasadena throughout this week which by next Monday will culminate in that pair of iconic New Years Day events which define Pasadena, the Rose Parade and the Rose Bowl “The Granddaddy of Them All” college football game.

EQUESTFEST Presented by Wells Fargo
Friday, December 29, 2017 – 10:00 a.m.

Get up close and personal with the 2018 Rose Parade equestrian units at Equestfest presented by Wells Fargo. Watch beautiful horses and talented riders perform drills and dances and demonstrate trick riding and roping. Attendees can also stroll through the stables, talk to riders and learn about the various tack and the many different breeds while enjoying the vendor court, displays, great music, food and drinks.

Location and Parking:

The Los Angeles Equestrian Center is located at 480 W. Riverside Drive in Burbank, California.

Parking is available at the venue for $10 per vehicle.

Bandfest presented by REMO will feature the outstanding bands selected to participate in the 2018 Rose Parade. Over the course of two days, each band, along with its auxiliary performers, will present the field show that has led to its success.

The Tournament of Roses will honor the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame Class of 2017 during a midday luncheon. Attendees will be able to witness history as the newest members join a group of legendary football greats during the induction ceremony and press conference that will follow.

Rose Bowl Bash Presented by Northwestern Mutual 

Sunday, December 31, 2017 – 11:00 a.m. to Sunday, December 31, 2017 – 5:00 p.m.

The Rose Bowl Bash presented by Northwestern Mutual is a first-of-its-kind event in downtown Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve (Sunday, December 31). The event celebrates college football and will take place at The Bloc (Hope and 7th Street) from 11:00 a.m. – 500 p.m. PT.

The Rose Bowl Bash is free to the public and will include family-friendly interactive games, a Rose Bowl Game merchandise booth, photo activations, a beer garden to watch ESPN coverage, and entertainment – including a DJ booth, team pep bands and cheer squads. Food trucks and other local merchants will also be available to attendees.

129th Rose Parade Presented by Honda

Monday, January 1, 2018 – 8:00 a.m.

The 129th Rose Parade presented by Honda begins at 8:00 a.m. on January 1, 2018 and will feature floral floats, spirited marching bands and high-stepping equestrian units along the 5 1/2 mile route down Colorado Boulevard. Experience – in person – the magic of New Year’s Day in an unrivaled celebration, exclusive to the streets of Pasadena!

Ticketing Seating: Reserved grandstand seating for the Rose Parade is available for purchase through Sharp Seating Company, the Official Grandstand Seating Provider, from February 1, 2017 through December 31, 2017. Every person must have a ticket to sit in the reserved grandstands. The only exception is for children two years of age or younger who have the option of sitting on an adult’s lap, otherwise they must also have a ticket. Important Note –

Please note that on January 1, prior to the start of the Rose Parade, the foot traffic flow on Orange Grove Blvd. between Colorado Blvd. and Green St. will be closed due to parade activities.

If your seats are located on Orange Grove Blvd. between Colorado Blvd. and Green St., within the boundaries of the Tournament of Roses® security zone, you will need to have your ticket to gain access to this area. It is imperative that you arrive at your parade seat within this location by 6:30 a.m. on January 1, 2018. Your ticket or valid credential must be displayed to any usher, public safety personnel or any authorized representative of the Tournament of Roses upon demand. All patrons are subject to search. Objects that may block the view or interfere with other patrons, or that may potentially pose a threat to safety, are prohibited.

Non-Ticketed Seating: Curbside viewing is also available on a first-come, first-served basis. Pasadena city ordinance allows the occupancy of curbside space along the parade route beginning at noon on the day before the parade. Safety Tips & Guidelines:

The Pasadena Police Department, supported by the Tournament of Roses Association and City Officials, will be closing the 2018 Rose Parade route early this year to vehicular traffic to enhance public safety measures. Route closures will take effect beginning at 10 p.m., Sunday, December 31 until 2 p.m., Monday, January 1, 2018, along Colorado Boulevard, from Orange Grove Boulevard, to Sierra Madre Boulevard, and northbound on Sierra Madre to Paloma Street.

The Pasadena Police and Transportation Departments have identified several streets that will remain open for north and southbound vehicular traffic from December 31, 2017 at 10:00 p.m. until January 1, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Please read more about Rose Parade safety tips and guidelines on our Parade Safety Guidelines page. Location and Parking:

The 5 1/2-mile Rose Parade route begins at the corner of Green Street and Orange Grove Boulevard in Pasadena, Califronia. The parade travels north on Orange Grove at a leisurely 2 1/2-mile per hour pace and then turns east onto Colorado Boulevard, where the majority of the parade viewing takes place. Near the end of the route, the parade turns north onto Sierra Madre Boulevard and concludes at Villa Street.

Reserved parking for automobiles, buses and recreational vehicles is available for purchase through Sharp Seating Company (626) 795-4171; Colorado Boulevard Parking (858-692-0868 or 949-295-6537); City of Pasadena (626) 744-6470; LAZ Parking (626-578-1705); Easy Parking Service (626) 286-7576 and AP Parking (858-692-0868). Paid parking is also offered on a first-come, first-served basis at various lots and parking structures near the parade route. Overnight parking on Pasadena streets begins at noon the day before the parade, for that evening only. All “No Parking” areas and red curb zones remain off-limits, and vehicles in violation will be subject to impound and a fine. There is no parking allowed on the parade route itself. Transportation:

METRO

Metro will operate 24 hour service on Metro Rail, also on the Silver and Orange Lines on the night of December 31 through the morning of January 1. In addition, Metro will offer enhanced service on the Metro Gold Line to accommodate large numbers of anticipated riders on January 1.

Metro will also provide regular bus service to areas near the Rose Parade, Rose Bowl Game and Post Parade areas. Buses will originate from locations throughout the county.

College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Rose Bowl Game Presented by Northwestern Mutual

Monday, January 1, 2018 – 1:00 p.m.

The College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual will be held on January 1, 2018. The game will feature the Oklahoma Sooners and the Georgia Bulldogs. Come early and enjoy pre-game activities including tailgates, Rose Queen and Royal Court appearances, and more.

Oklahoma will occupy the west sideline (press box side) and have their colors painted in the north endzone, while Georgia will occupy the east sideline and have their colors painted in the south endzone.

Safety tips and guidelines are also provided by the City of Pasadena. Modified street closures will affect Colorado Boulevard starting at 10:00 p.m. on December 31st through 2:00 p.m. on January 1st.

Location & Parking:

The Rose Bowl Stadium is located at 1001 Rose Bowl Drive in Pasadena, California.

Driving to the Rose Bowl Stadium can be very difficult due to general Los Angeles traffic and heavy Rose Parade and game day traffic flowing in and out of Pasadena. Please follow the driving directions in the Game Day Guide. Do not rely on GPS directions as they do not take into consideration traffic patterns or the location of the general parking lots. Please consider carpooling, using public transportation or the free shuttle service. Heightened security may also slow your entrance into the stadium.

Rose Bowl Stadium Parking: Parking at the Rose Bowl Stadium varies by lot. Parking on the north golf course (lot 9 and 10) is $30 per car in advance and $50 on game day. Parking on the south golf course (lot 3, 4 and 8) is $40 per car in advance and $50 on game day. Preferred parking (Area H, lot 1, 2, and 6) is $60 per car in advance and $80 on game day. Parking lots open at 4 a.m. Other than designated overnight motorhome parking, there is no overnight parking at the Rose Bowl Stadium. In-and-out privileges are prohibited in all parking areas. Parsons Parking Lot: There is a $45 parking charge per car at Parsons Parking Lot, located at the corner of Union Street and De Lacey Avenue with entrances off of Walnut Street and Holly Street in Pasadena. The Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual Shuttle Bus will pick-up location at the corner of Union Street and Pasadena Avenue will transport you to the Rose Bowl Stadium gates. The shuttle runs continuously from 10:00AM until approximately two hours after the end of the game. Reserved parking can be purchased in advance through LAZ Parking for $40. ADVISORY: Between 10:00 am. and 11:30 a.m., there will be heavy traffic exiting Pasadena from Parsons Parking Lot and the adjacent Old Pasadena parking lots due to the Rose Parade. It is advisable to arrive in Pasadena before 10:00 a.m. or after 11:30 a.m. to avoid congestion.

Metro Gold Line Light Rail Service: The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) operates a light rail service to Pasadena via the Metro Gold Line. If you would like to take the Metro Gold Line to the game, exit the train at Memorial Park Station in Pasadena. Follow the signs for two blocks to the Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual pick-up location at Parsons Parking Lot. This shuttle will take you directly to the Rose Bowl Stadium. Drop-off/Taxi Zone/Rideshare Services: The designated drop-off, pick-up and taxi zone is on Holly Street between Fair Oaks Avenue and Arroyo Parkway. Passengers may take the free Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual Shuttle to the stadium. There are no provisions for drop-offs and pick-ups at the stadium. All taxis or passenger cars entering the Rose Bowl Stadium area will be required to pay the appropriate parking fee.

Comfortable walking shoes and early arrival are suggested. NO pets or bikes allowed.

  • Wear comfortable walking shoes as there are no trams and seating is limited. Viewing all the floats will require walking a distance of approximately 2.5 miles and will take at least two hours. The venue is often crowded and you will be walking and viewing at a leisurely pace.

  • The least crowded time to visit Post Parade is during the morning hours of January 3. At peak viewing times, there may be lines to purchase tickets, ride the Park-N-Ride shuttle, or enter the Post Parade venue.

  • At the entrance, pick up a brochure with a map of the Post Parade venue layout. The brochure is also available at all Park-N-Ride locations.

  • Remember to stay hydrated, particularly if the day is hot. Water is available free-of-charge at three locations within the venue.

  • There are a limited number of food vendors at the venue. Visitors are welcome to bring small quantities of food and non-alcoholic drinks into the venue. (No coolers, please).

  • Before you begin viewing the floats, decide where you and others in your party will meet in case you are inadvertently separated and cannot communicate via cell phone. One option is to meet near the Lost and Found tent at the intersection of Sierra Madre and Washington boulevards.

  • There will be ATMs inside the venue.

  • Please deposit your recyclable items in the marked bins.
