YWCA Event Will Include Information on Knowing Your Rights When Dealing with Immigration Agents

The Pasadena-Foothill Valley Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) chapter will be holding its next Talking the Talk event on Thursday, March 9, at the Longfellow Elementary Auditorium at 1065 E. Washington Blvd. in Pasadena, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Titled “The Right to Remain,” the episode will cover the topic of immigration including current policies and changes, knowing your rights during interactions with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, and what activists are doing to change Pasadena policy.

YWCA will have emergency packets on hand for undocumented families with children who are citizens.

Talking the Talk events provide valuable information for the community and a chance for community members to come together and be heard. The moderated discussions allow individuals to see many different viewpoints on the given issues, find like-minded individuals, and have a safe space to discuss their point of view.

Community leaders and individuals come together at these events to discuss their concerns, alleviate their fears, and make plans for action. Special guest speakers share their expertise on a variety of topics such as recognizing white supremacist imagery, knowing your rights during a police action, mobilizing for political action, and identifying resources for disadvantaged communities.
