7th Grade Field Trip to the Field… At the Rose Bowl

Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) seventh graders will get a chance to visit and learn about Pasadena’s National Historic Landmark, the Rose Bowl Stadium, through the Rose Bowl’s ‘Field Trip to the Field’ a new educational program of the Rose Bowl Operating Company. The ‘Field Trip to the Field’ program has been generously funded by Honda, and will eventually ensure that every student in the district has the chance to visit the Rose Bowl Stadium. Honda’s support of the Rose Bowl Stadium spans decades as one of the stadium’s founding partners

In addition to the educational focus of the stadium’s history and its cultural significance, PUSD students will focus on health and wellness during their visit. Students will participate in a physical education class on Area H, the 19-acre grass lot in front of the stadium before heading inside for a behind-the-scenes tour. The day ends with a nutritious lunch provided by Wolfgang Puck underneath the historic Rose Bowl marquee.

“The Pasadena Unified School District is pleased to partner with the Rose Bowl Operating Company and Honda to launch this new education program. We believe this program will engage and inspire all 7th Graders in the district on the iconic history of this site, and its local and global significance. This new learning opportunity will educate our students on the central role good health and nutrition has on life and success in school,” shared Associate Superintendent Mercy Santoro. “PUSD is uniquely positioned to offer our students innovative educational opportunities as a result of our world class partners.”

Led by professional tour guides, students will experience the behind-the-scenes aspects as displayed on the official Stadium Tour. The tour is a ticketed event open to the public each month, or by advanced group booking. It has welcomed thousands of visitors since its beginning in 2014. Stops on the tour include the original locker room from 1922, the new locker rooms, press box, Court of Champions and the iconic Rose Bowl Field.

The Rose Bowl Stadium is located at 1001 Rose Bowl Drive, Pasadena.
