Alverno High School Inducts New Members Into National Honor Society

On Thursday, October 18, the Daemen Chapter of the National Honor Society at Alverno High School inducted 10 new members into their ranks. They join current members Karmah Eldesouky (Junior), Lindsay Fisher (Senior), Alex Overstreet (Senior), and Ileana Vior (Senior).

The National Honor Society is an organization that recognizes academic success while it encourages the continued development of character, leadership, and community service. At Alverno, National Honor Society students participate in various service projects including tutoring students, bell ringing for the Salvation Army at Christmas, and other projects that benefit both Alverno and the local community. Additionally, members of National Honor Society are active members in Alverno student government, campus organizations, athletic teams, and the visual and performing arts while maintaining impressive academic records. In fact, the average GPA of members of the National Honor Society at Alverno High School is a 4.2.

New members of the National Honor Society at Alverno include Deanna DeLaCruz (Junior), Sebby Gomez (Senior), Victoria Gough (Senior), Katherine Haysbert (Senior), Devny Osuna (Senior) Alessia Paciulli (Senior), Brett Richey (Junior), Maia Samerjan (Senior), Jeanine Santucci (Sophomore), and Cleo Wong (Senior).

“For over 50 years, Alverno has been providing young women with incredible activities and exceptional academic opportunities,” said Ann Gillick, Head of School. “The National Honor Society is one of the highest achievements a student can achieve in high school. Through Alverno’s mission of empowering each young woman to be exactly the person she wants to be, these 14 young women have grown into women of scholarship, service, leadership and character.”
