Alverno’s Julia Vallen Wins First Place in Fullerton College Theatre Arts Department High School Theatre Festival

Last month Alverno Heights Academy (AHA)’s Performing Arts students, led by its amazing Director Cynthia Cales, took part in the Fullerton College Theatre Arts Department High School Theatre Festival! The students have participated in this event for years, performing pieces from AHA’s plays and musicals as well as solo pieces!

This year, senior Julia Vallen won 1st place in the Classical Dramatic Monologue Category! She competed against over 100 fellow student actors and took home the highest award. She performed Joan of Arc’s monologue from Saint Joan by George Bernard Shaw. Next year she will take her acting chops and Alverno spirit to Loyola, Chicago. Sophomore Claire Cook also made it to the finals for her Comedic Monologue.
