Maranatha High School has the distinct honor of being the host site for the 2014 Pasadena Relay for Life fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. The 24-hour event will take place on May 23 – May 24, from 6:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Maranatha High School’s football field. Pasadena’s Mayor Bogaard, along with MHS Headmaster Dr. Gyertson, will kick off the event which begins with a special lap honoring cancer survivors.
Maranatha High School is also supporting the event in a number of other ways, such as walking with a “Team Maranatha” relay team. They are also offering special dress days for the entire last week of school for a donation to the walk. Linda Ruggles ’77, one of their alumna, is selling luminaries for the Luminaria Ceremony and student Emma Hausler will be singing during the ceremony. The students and staff at Maranatha know that everyone has been touched in one way or another by cancer. This event gives the community an opportunity to give back and remember those in the Maranatha family who have fought and won the battle, are currently fighting, and the loved ones that we have lost.
