Dr. C. Ravindran, vice president of ASM International (American Society for Metals), a century-old organization of materials professionals, was recently a guest of Bosco Tech’s Materials Science, Engineering & Technology (MSET) program.
A professor of mechanical and industrial engineering at Toronto’s Ryerson University, Dr. Ravindran came to town to serve as keynote speaker at an ASM International Southern California meeting.
The doctor was able to squeeze in some time to tour Bosco Tech’s MSET lab and meet ASM student chapter members Zachary Huckler, Adam Jang, and Tony Ledesma.
After his visit, Ravindran wrote to MSET Department Chair Jim Curiel, “I was not only impressed with the quality of your students and your well-equipped laboratories, but also by their commitment to high quality learning.”
“I was very impressed with the gleam in the eyes of your students and their passion for materials science and engineering, and for ASM,” he says. “You have an outstanding and unique ASM Chapter!”
He continued, “Later, I was at the Cal Poly MA Chapter, LA Chapter and Orange County Chapter and I learned with delight that several of your alumni pursued further studies in Materials Science and Engineering at UC-Irvine, Cal Poly University, etc. I met the students!”
