Blair's First Thursdays - IB Presentation Plus Potluck and SSC, PTSA and ELAC Meetings

Published : Monday, October 1, 2018 | 1:12 PM

There are lots of opportunities to stay informed at Blair, to get involved and to meet other people. To make it as easy as possible for busy families to get plugged in and connect with the Blair family, Blair has “First Thursday.” Our Blair community gathers monthly to squeeze as much as possible into just one night out for everyone. This takes place, with rare exceptions, on the first Thursday of each month, therefore called, “First Thursday”!

October: What’s the Value of an IB Education?

Each First Thursday includes a special presentation. This month, Oct. 4, IB Diploma program students who attended this year’s IB Student World Conference in Washington D.C. will share. They will also speak on why they chose to do the IB Diploma program and their experience at Blair. Bring your questions!

Get to know people while eating dinner together. Contributions for our potluck dinner are much appreciated! (Please bring food by 5 pm.)

Potluck sign ups linked here.

October’s potluck, PTSA Association meeting and IB presentation are in the Cafetorium on Blair East.

Blair’s First Thursday timetable is typically as follows:

3:30 pm School Site Council (SSC), open to all (meets in C1135, the Family Resource Center)

5:15 pm Dinner served (usually a potluck, and usually in the Blair East Cafetorium)
5:30 pm PTSA Association meeting (usually in Blair East Cafetorium)
6:00 pm Special presentation
6:30 – 7:30 ELAC (English Learners Advisory Committee)
6:30 – 7:30 Pull-outs and support group meetings (may include sports, Spanish Dual Language etc.)

The PTSA is not only a Parent Teacher Association, but includes Student members as well. The PTSA Association meeting is open to all, though only members may vote.

Feel free to contact the PTSA with questions about the potluck or other questions about First Thursday.
