Bosco Tech Student Receives Offer from U.S. Naval Academy

Don Bosco Technical Institute (Bosco Tech) senior Kyle Chiang has been offered a spot in the freshman class of the United States Naval Academy for this fall.

He was selected by Congresswoman Judy Chu, Ph.D. (27th District), for the Congressional Nomination to the U.S. Naval Academy, ranking him among an elite number of students who have received this honor.

An Alhambra resident, Chiang studies Architecture & Construction Engineering (ACE) at Bosco Tech. He is a student Ambassador, president of the campus’ National Honor Society chapter and vice president of the KEY Club. He is a leader in the school’s Youth Ministry program and has served as a retreat leader. Last summer, he completed an internship with Orbital ATK, an aerospace manufacturer and defense industry company.

“We’re extremely proud of Kyle and his desire to serve our country,” said Bosco Tech President Xavier Jimenez. “His dedication to both his studies and his involvement in campus life have made him a great asset to our school and I know he will make a tremendous contribution to the U.S. Naval Academy and to our country through his military career.”

Founded in 1845, the U.S. Naval Academy prepares young men and women to become professional officers of competence, character, and compassion in the Navy and Marine Corps. It is ranked among the top ten universities in the country by U.S. News & World Report. Naval Academy students are midshipmen on active duty in the U.S. Navy. They attend the academy for four years, graduating with bachelor of science degrees and commissions as ensigns in the Navy or second lieutenants in the Marine Corps.
