Boys Tennis: Maranatha’s “Magnificent 7” Beats Fairmont Prep 13-5

For the first time in Maranatha High School’s Coach Arthur Hsieh’s boys tennis coaching tenure, he wasn’t able to field a full team. Due to circumstances, injury, and illness, MHS only had 7 players to compete, forcing them to forfeit 3 doubles sets at 0-6.

Understanding what needed to be done, team leaders – captain Jake Scott, Nico Engling, and Tim Huang – led the way by dominating their singles sets, only surrendering 3 games the entire day.

Each of the doubles teams, Kenny Cho/Zack Vanneman and Jordan Miao/Joshua Im, went 2-1, each losing to the Huskies’ #1 team.

The Minutemen fortunately have the rest of the week off and play again next Monday, 3/2, hosting El Monte.
