Chandler Girl’s Basketball Team Wins 2019-2020 Championship in Middle School Independent League and Middle School Independent League Tournament

This year, Chandler Girls’ Basketball made history. Winning the 2019-2020 championship in both the Middle School Independent League and the Middle School Independent League Tournament with an 8-0 record, head coach Pete Carlson says that the girls can attribute their success to their hard work all season.

Coach Carlson says, “Playing team sports in middle school has so many benefits for both boys and girls; it teaches teamwork, perseverance, and respect.”

8th-grader Jamie Yue closes out this season as the winningest athlete in Chandler history. In her first year playing on the A Team, she was the first 6th-grader to make the team. Graduating this year, Yue will leave behind a proud legacy, with a 24-2 record. Having played travel basketball since very young, she says that playing on this team has been fun and looks forward to playing basketball in high school.

Chandler Girls Basketball boasts a 62-6 record in the last eight years, and they have won seven of the last eight championships in both Middle School Independent League and tournament.
