Chandler School: Science in Layers



Chandler School Sixth-graders learn about the three main layers of Earth as they measure the mass and volume of three liquids—water, dish soap and vegetable oil—to calculate the density. After hypothesizing what happens when three liquids of varying density are combined, students poured the liquids into a cup to see the densest liquid sit on the bottom and the least dense rise to the top.
