Class of 2013 Called to Lead as New School Year Approaches

Members of the Class of 2013 recently received their class rings at a traditional Mass and candlelight ceremony in Pike Auditorium.

The Ring Night tradition at Mayfield Senior School dates back to 1947 and is a formal acknowledgement of the transition that junior students make as they become leaders of the student body in their senior year.

As Head of School Rita McBride explained during the ceremony, “The ring you receive tonight is a symbol of the leadership you are about to assume and how the lessons of our youth often come full circle to inform and transform us throughout our adult years.”

McBride added, “We extend to you our respect for what you have already given to Mayfield and what you are yet to give.

“We entrust to you the legacy of the traditions of a Holy Child education — an education that values the dignity and worth of each of its members.”
