The recent 122nd Boston Marathon was nothing short of epic for the 30,000 runners including one of Crestview Preparatory School’s fourth grade teachers, Mrs. Baker. The forecast called for 100% chance of rain with horrible race conditions. It down poured all day long with wind gusts up to 40 mph and temperatures that fell in the 20’s with the windchill.
Mrs. Baker completed the marathon with the other 16 teachers that were chosen from a nationwide contest by Hyland’s, the official leg cramp product of the marathon. The campaign title was “I’m a teacher and I run!” which encouraged the teachers to include their students in on the training process and track us during the 26.2 miles from Hopkinton to Boston. Mrs. Baker came across the finish line in 4 hours and 6 minutes smiling from ear to ear. She said, “As I stood at the starting line, soaking wet and cold waiting for the gun to go off, I thought of all of the support I had at Crestview and knew that would help me with those late tough miles.”
