“Exit: Pursued By Bear” to Debut at McKinley School of the Arts

Nestled in the heart of the Playhouse District of Pasadena, a group of young actors is hard at work bringing Alison Garfinkel’s original work, “Exit. Pursued By Bear” to life on the stage at McKinley School of the Arts on Thursday, November 14.

Inspired by the comedic works of William Shakespeare, “Exit” follows a collection of students who have gathered to finish up a project for their English class. They’ve procrastinated until the very last weekend available and now have to cobble together scenes to demonstrate their understanding of Shakespeare’s comedies. Unfortunately, they are also dealing with a number of other problems at the same time including misunderstandings, miscommunications, misadventures, and a bear.

“The themes that we find in the works of The Bard are as relevant today as they were 500 years ago when they were first performed for audiences,” says Alison Garfinkel, director, and middle school English teacher. “Not only are our students exposed to these valuable life lessons, but they also get to have fun with Classical works with their friends.”

“Exit: Pursued By Bear” opens on Thursday, November 14 at 6:00 p.m. at the McKinley School of the Arts Auditorium, located at 325 S. Oak Knoll Avenue in Pasadena. The play runs through Sunday, November 16.
