Flintridge Prep Class of 2017 celebrated its final milestones as students. Baccalaureate speaker John C. Reilly, whose son, Leo, is a member of the graduating class, reminded the graduates in a hilarious speech that if they do what they love, they will never work a day in their lives. The emotional Commencement ceremony was capped by talks given by the elected class speaker, Haley Harris, the Benton Trophy winner, Laura Ratliff, and Founders Trophy winner, Elida Kocharian.
The Class of 2017 selected retiring History Department Chair Christine Madsen to receive the class award. Several leadership awards were given, including the Cancer Federation Award for exceptional service (Christian Yeghnazar). The American Legion Award (Lindsay Campbell and Cameron Wu) and the Student Leadership Award (Haley Harris). The Athletes of the Year were Natalie O’Brien and Kendall Kikkawa, while Hanna Barakat received the Tom Fry Award for demonstrating generosity of spirit and love of life.
