Flintridge Prep Spring Sports Head Into the Playoffs, Break School Records

While some spring sports at Flintridge Prep are in full swing, the playoffs have already begun for some teams. Here’s a brief wrap-up.

Baseball
With a 5-1 victory against Pasadena Poly, the Prep baseball team has a 9-0 League record, securing the League title with three games remaining in the season. The reigning 2015 CIF Champions will head to the CIF playoffs later this month.

Softball
The softball team secured a playoff spot with a 9-4 win over Westridge. The team is currently 8-4 in the League.

Boys Volleyball
Volleyball coach Sean Beattie recorded his 300th career win while securing a fourth straight League title. The team earned a third seed CIF playoff bid and their first game is May 10. The strong team is anchored by Dante Fregoso ’16, the 2015 All-Area Boys’ Volleyball Player of the Year.

Swimming
Boys swimming had a League four-peat, as well, with League co-MVP Andy Langen ’17 breaking a school record in the 100 M Freestyle with 47:32. The girls swim team place fifth in the League.

Track
The track team took home seven individual Prep League titles and the athletes are off to the next level. Individual school records were broken in the following areas:

Tennis
The tennis team is heading to the first round of the CIF playoffs vs. Oak Park. Cartier Juan ’16 has also qualified as an individual player.

Golf
The golf team won second in the League and League MVP Jonah Sacks ’16 was the League Champion for the second year in a row. Ben Sacks was selected as an All-Prep League member.
