Flintridge Preparatory School Students Honored at Fall Assembly



At a brief assembly on Friday, September 27, students were honored for their academic and athletic accomplishments. After the assembly, headmaster Peter Bachmann handed the gavel to senior class president Anton Verbinski ‘14.

ACL Athlete of the Year
Each year, the ACL nominates and selects an Athlete of the Year. This year, Eric Fung ’14, a three-season athlete, and a dedicated member of ACL, working with the Prep League Athletic Council, won the honor. Eric is the definition of a team leader and scholar-athlete.

National Merit Semifinalists
Of the approximate 1.5 million students taking the National Merit Test, about 16,000 of the nation’s high school seniors are designated as National Merit Semifinalists. These students represent the nation’s most able students. The National Merit Semifinalists in the Class of 2014 are:

National Hispanic Recognition Program
The National Hispanic Recognition Program was initiated in 1983 to identify outstanding Hispanic/Latino high school students. This year, the NHRP is recognizing about 5,000 Hispanic/Latino students from a pool of over 253,000 who took the 2012 PSAT. The administration congratulated two students in the Flintridge Prep Class of 2014 for their participation in the National Hispanic Recognition Program.

Cum Laude Society
The Cum Laude Society is a fellowship of scholars whose purpose is to recognize excellence in academic work. These students are the top 10% of their class. Their membership is usually determined by their high school records and a vote of the Academic Affairs Committee.
