Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy Sophomores Wow Judges in Video Competition

Three groups of FSHA sophomores came away with prizes after entering a DVD contest to depict Biblical stories in a modern setting. Wordnet Productions, a Catholic media organization based in San Bernardino, sponsored the competition and invited FSHA students to participate by producing “iGod Messages.” Four groups, headed by Mary Laurance ’16, Sara Collins ’16, Sydney Gonzalez ’16 and Kirsten Polzin ’16, submitted their work for consideration.

In the first school-wide round, Mary’s team (“The Great Banquet”) took first place and a $150 prize; Sara’s team (“The Good Samaritan”) came in second with a $100 prize; and Sydney’s team (“High School Leper”) placed third with a $50 prize. Those three entries then went on to the wider competition against videos from other Catholic high schools in the area.

At the end of the contest, Mary and team — Kelly Fradet ’16, Danielle Fradet ’16, Lacie Fradet ’16, Casey Johnson ’16 and Jenna Tran ’16 — were in second place among all entries, winning them the Clare Award trophy and a prize of $250. The winning students received their awards at the Academic Awards Assembly (pictured) on Wednesday, May 28.
