Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy’s Speech and Debate Team Success at Local Tournament

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy’s speech and debate team had a successful showing at the “I Have a Dream” Invitational at Monroe High School in North Hills. More than 20 schools from the San Gabriel and San Fernando Valley areas participated, more than ever before.

Jennifer Miranti ’17 placed fifth in impromptu speaking. She placed first with perfect speaker points in all three of her preliminary rounds! In expository speaking, Mia Vega ’17 placed seventh and Angie Zhao ‘18 placed eigth.

From the freshmen debate team, Meg Kalaw ’20 and Jocelle Lauron ’20 secured the superior rank in public forum debate. Even though they are “first-year” novices they competed against more seasoned varsity opponents at this tournament, making their success all the more remarkable.
