Gooden School sixth-graders learned all about earthquakes this past month, culminating in a long-term project on earthquake safe houses. Students constructed their own earthquake safe houses to simulate how different earthquake-proofing techniques would hold up against their very own shake table.
This shake table was constructed by parent Will Walker along with his sons Brooks (class of 2018) and Wyatt (class of 2016). Middle School science teacher Mrs. Laurie Tortell commented that the students all worked so hard and had a lot of fun while learning about earthquakes through this STEAM project.
