“Harambee Means… ‘Let’s get together and push’ in Swahili. We seek to nurture and equip leadership that will holistically minister to the community by sharing Biblical truths, in order to achieve the re-building of urban neighborhoods through relocation, reconciliation and redistribution.”
At Harambee Preparatory School (HPS), students are given an opportunity to learn and grow at a rate that is best for each student. This is done through small class sizes, low teacher to student ratios, and specialized attention and remediation in after school tutoring available to all students. Students at HPS are nutured and developed in three core learning domains: academic excellence, social emotional health and student character.
Harambee Preparatory School is accredited by Western Schools and College Association. (WASC). Students learn more than the traditional education courses. Students are also educated in fine arts and performance arts, nutrition classes, paleontology, gardening, bee keeping, and music classes.

Faith and Education
Students are encouraged to share and grow in their faith and love of Jesus Christ. Prayer, worship, and commitment to faith are integral components of Harambee’s curriculum. Harambee engages students in charater-based curriculum with the goal of training students to exude the character of Christ in action and beliefs.
Parents are actively involved in the education of their children. Parents regularly volunteer and participate in school functions and activities. Harambee hosts monthly parent support classes where they are given lessons on healthy practices to benefit themselves and their families. Further, single moms in need transitional housing are provided housing in Harambee’s Transitional Living House. Finally, E.S.L. classes are available for Spanish speaking parents.
