High Point Academy Announces Changes in the World Language Department

High Point Academy would like to announce a change in the World Language Program. After much research and consideration, it has decided to offer Spanish instead French to its kinder-third grade students.

Students will continue to have a choice of taking Spanish or French beginning in the fourth grade. Our language teachers have been busy this summer learning how to implement a different methodology to achieve fluency in Spanish and French. It is called Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Story Telling (TPRS).

TPRS is a methodology that includes movement, personalized class-created stories, music and novels to provide repetition and comprehension of the highest frequency vocabulary. It is an interactive, fluency-driven approach that creates excitement and success for all students.
