Hosted by the Global Initiatives Program, Kennedy Odede, who along with his wife, Jessica Posner, founded Shining Hope for Communities, an organization for social entrepreneurism, education, and activism in a slum of Kibera, Nairobi, spent much of the day on Poly’s Upper School campus. After talking with students during an assembly, Odede had lunch with students in the Global Scholars program.

The couple also authored the New York Times best-selling book, “Find Me Unafraid: Love, Loss, and Hope in an African Slum.” The book recounts their incredibly inspiring, boldly courageous, and truly compassionate story having worked with more than 100,000 students. Their work has received high acclaim and can be seen in the PBS documentary, “A Path Appears.”
