Maranatha Combines Musical Big Fish with Annual Benefit for a Very Special Evening
During this, their 50th school year, Maranatha High School will combine their annual benefit and dinner with their spring musical, “Big Fish,” on Saturday, March 14, 2015.
The fun-filled evening begins at 5:00 p.m. with a delicious southern style dinner and line dancing to a live band. A silent auction, also available through online bidding for guests unable to attend, will add to the excitement of the event. Following the dinner and festivities, the MHS Performing Arts Department will present a heartwarming production of Big Fish in the beautiful, historic Ambassador Auditorium.
Based on the celebrated novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed film by Tim Burton, Big Fish is a rollicking fantasy set in the American South that centers around the journey of a father and son’s relationship and the eventual triumph of family love over the struggles of life. This production has everything – dancing elephants, mermaids, gentle giants, and one knockout dance number after another!
Maranatha students receive many important benefits through their involvement in the performing arts and they develop life skills that benefit them regardless of the path they pursue in the future including creativity, confidence, problem solving, perseverance, discipline, collaboration, dedication, and accountability. The proceeds from this year’s benefit will support the school’s performing arts.
Tickets for the dinner and show may be purchased at Maranatha’s website: www.maranatha-hs.org/bigfish. Performances run March 12 -14 at 7:00 p.m. and a matinee showing on March 14 at 2:00 p.m.
