Marshall Fundamental 11th Graders Participates in Workshop hosted by College Board at Bonaventure Hotel

On March 12th Marshall Fundamental 11th Grade, Class of 2020 students attend a college preparatory workshop hosted by The College Board at the Bonaventure Hotel.

The event, called “Own Your Future: College Connection Day”, was free and designed to allow motivated juniors to interact with students from across the region, and get facetime with college access organizations and college representatives.

The experience began with the College Board extending an invitation to Marshall Fundamental to participate in this invite-only, all-expenses-paid event during its pilot year and us saying, “Yes.” to the invite.

Programming included sessions hosted by the The Jackie Robinson Foundation and the University of California it allowed students time and space to discuss and ask questions about the complexity of the application process and paying for college.

The counselors and students who attended were excited, impressed, and inspired by this event. Students were able to navigate new social and cultural situations in this beautiful downtown venue, while engaging in discussion about their collegiate future.
