As part of Center Theatre Group’s Student Matinee Program, Marshall’s Advanced Drama class worked with teaching artist Leslie Ichii in preparation for seeing the Tony Nominated musical “Bright Star” next week! The students enjoyed the thoughtful discussions and activities and can’t wait to see the performance at The Ahmanson next week, and work with Leslie again post-performance!
Marshall’s Drama Department already has received a reputation for excellence and new theatre director Caroline Sandrew looks forward to continuing its growth and success! Ms. Sandrew has spent 8 years running rigorous and award-winning drama programs in Las Vegas and is thrilled to teach in Pasadena, a city known for exceptional theatre. She received her degree in theatre education from The University of Nevada, Las Vegas while she worked as a professional actress and singer, most notably playing the lead and supporting roles in “Tony ‘n Tina’s Wedding” on the Las Vegas Strip for nearly 10 years. However, her greatest passion is for teaching and directing, and her energy has always been focused on developing the skills of young actors and actresses and providing them with many diverse opportunities to perform! Marshall students should look forward to a straight play in the fall, the musical in the spring, and additional chances to showcase their talents and challenge themselves throughout the year!
