Mayfield Junior School’s 7th graders recently spent the morning taking a deeper look into production and performance for Charles Dickens’ classic Christmas story, “A Christmas Carol.”
In three rotating workshops, led by teaching artists from the local theater company – A Noise Within, students learned about costume and set design – creating their own costume renderings for the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Future, examined the text as they created their own version of the story with new settings and alternative characters, and as actors explored movement and expression to define the unique character of each of the visiting Ghosts.
