This year, Mayfield celebrates the 100th anniversary of its central building, Strub Hall.

Each December, Mayfield Senior School opens its Bellefontaine Street campus to hundreds of middle school families, who get to talk with students, teachers, coaches and parents about what makes the distinctive Mayfield experience life-changing for young women.

Mayfield inspires high school girls to discover their best selves through a visionary curriculum founded on its Catholic, Holy Child philosophy—one that values joyful learning, academic excellence and respect for diversity. “We want our students to be able to bring their whole, unique selves to school each day and to feel cherished and loved for who they are,” said Head of School Kate Morin.

Mayfield’s academic program cultivates fearless, inquisitive young women who earn top accolades, from national math and robotics competitions to creative writing and visual arts awards. The Open House academic fair gives visitors one-on-one access to teachers and students, as well as fun, hands-on activities that highlight each department’s offerings.

Families can also participate in lively Q&A panels with parents and students, take student-led tours, see sneak-peek Conservatory for the Arts performances and talk to Cubs athletes and coaches.

With the campus decked out in full Christmas regalia—fires ablaze, Nativity creche in the Chapel and cookies galore—families will want to linger in Mayfield’s historic Strub Hall, which is celebrating its 100th birthday this year. The landmark Beaux-Arts mansion has been a second home to more than 3,000 Mayfield students, and has also played host to well-known people and characters including Einstein, Elvis and Elle Woods.
