Special congratulations to senior student Carrie Morris ’12, who was nominated as Field MVP for the League.

Director of Athletics Lynda Gilbert reports:

Prep League finals at Claremont McKenna College are always exciting and this year was no exception. The very first race set the tone with a photo finish in the 4 x 100 Meter relay. The team of Alex Arnett ’12, Harley Barrera ’13, Frani Ferri ’14 and Jamilla Monegain ’15 placed 2nd by a hair, both teams recording a 50.72! Venezia Hyland ’13 finished strong to take second in the 100m hurdles. Harley Barrera ’13 took second in both the 100 and 200m dash. Lauren Joseph ’13 did not disappoint with her outstanding run in the 3200m, placing first in a time of 11:59.02. The final track event, the 4 x 400m relay, was won by the team of Harley, Frani, Mary Najarian ’13 and Annie Peacock ’14.

Mayfield had a strong presence in the Field Events with Carrie Morris ’12 nominated as MVP for the League. Carrie won the High Jump, placed 2nd in the Shot Put and 3rd in both the Triple Jump and Discus Throw.

Madeleine Waller ’13 won the Pole Vault and Remy Traglio ’14 had an outstanding evening, winning both the Discus with a throw of 98-09 and the Shot Put. Carrie, Madeleine and Remy, together with Alex Badie ’14, who placed 2nd in the Discus, will represent Mayfield at the CIF-SS prelims. Congratulations to the entire team for winning Prep League this year.
