Each year, alumni submit nominations for the Distinguished Alumnus or Alumna award. Polytechnic School ask alumni to consider classmates who have made significant accomplishments in their career, or excelled in service to the community, or to society in general. This year, the Alumni Association named Ken Frank ’74 the 2013 Distinguished Alumnus and welcomed him and his father, Norm Frank, who taught math at Poly for 35 years, to campus on February 21.

Ken is the chief proprietor and recipient of a Michelin Star at La Toque, a landmark restaurant in the heart of downtown Napa. A quintessential wine country restaurant, La Toque has been named one of the Top 20 restaurants in America. Ken began his visiting day on the North Campus at breakfast with his father and former faculty and staff. He then attended a Literature class and the Upper School Morning Meeting, was interviewed by The Paw Print, toured through the Poly Archives, and enjoyed lunch with students interested in French and the culinary arts. Later that evening, a special dinner was held in Ken’s honor with fellow classmates, family, Alumni Board members, Debbie Reed, and friends.
