Pasadena High School Bulldogs Basketball Coach George Terzian Passes Away at 83



Former Pasadena High School Bulldogs Basketball Coach George Terzian passed away Sunday morning. Coach Terzian is pictured on the far right with previous Bulldog Coaches and alumni Tim Tucker and Bill Duwe.

George Terzian coached the boy’s basketball program at Pasadena High School for 17 years. Two CIF Championships and four CIF finals appearances were the results. Former NBA players Michael Cooper and Michael Holton both played and won under Coach Terzian’s leadership. After leaving PHS in 1979 he coached at Pasadena City College for the next 18 years or so.

Coach Terzian is the winningest coach in Pasadena City College men’s basketball history. In 20 seasons directing the Lancers, Terzian won 332 games and was inducted into the State Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2006. He is also a member of the CIF Southern Section Hall of Fame for his prior coaching at Pasadena High School.

George is survived by his wife Danita Letts Terzian, two children, Todd and Melissa, and one grandson, Jonathan.
