Pasadena High School offers a big Bulldog welcome to Mr. Bill Benson! Mr. Benson is the new Instrumental Music Director for Pasadena High School. He will be running all of the music programs including: Marching Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band, Concert Band, Guard, and Drum Line. He is joining us from the Central Coast where he served as the Visual and Performing Arts Chair and the Director of Bands & Color Guard at Arroyo Grande High School in Arroyo Grande, CA. Mr. Benson was with Arroyo Grande High School for six years.

“It is my goal to foster a love for music in each of my students. I let them make mistakes and find joy in the self confidence they gain through overcoming an obstacle and discovering success from within. I strive for my students to find meaning behind the notes, uncovering that place where they can become brave and instinctive enough to play what the music demands while discovering the fire within their creative soul.”

His music education is from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, CalArts, and USC which prepared him for a high paced career in the Motion Picture Industry where he worked along side Hollywood’s finest directors, composers and musicians. Mr. Benson holds a Master’s Degree in Education, a Bachelor’s Degree in Music and is a member of the National Association for Music Educators, California Music Educators Association and the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association.

The student leadership will be meeting with Mr. Benson in the next few weeks, and an informal meet-and-greet for all parents will be held in early July.
