Pasadena High School: Pasadena Sister Cities 2013 Exchange Program
Offers a special opportunity for PUSD area students 17+ to participate in summer exchanges to Vanadzor (Armenia), Jarvenpaa (Finland), Ludwigshafen (Germany) or Mishima (Japan). Last year three Pasadena High School students participated in this program. For more information go to Pasadena Sister Cities.
Students selected for the exchange program will be expected to participate in Sister City activities and help to provide housing for visiting students the following summer.
Each of our sister cities provides accommodations with host families and visits to local
attractions. The student pays transportation and miscellaneous personal expenses.
VANADZOR, ARMENIA
• Third largest city in Armenia; 2 hours north of Yerevan
• High school juniors and seniors preferred
• Summer program, approximately four weeks
• Cultural exchange only; Armenian language helpful but not required.
JÄRVENPÄÄ, FINLAND
• A suburb northeast of Helsinki; home of composer Sibelius
• High school juniors and seniors or college students
• Summer program from four to six weeks, during June and July; possible winter exchange.
• Cultural exchange only; Finnish not required.
LUDWIGSHAFEN, GERMANY
• A city on the Rhein near Mannheim and Heidelberg
• College students preferred
• Summer program from four to six weeks during June and July.
• Work experience in various city offices; German helpful but not required.
MISHIMA, JAPAN
• A city at the foot of Mt. Fuji in Shizuoka Prefecture
• College students preferred
• Summer program, about four weeks from late July to early August
• Students assist part-time in English classes; Japanese helpful but not required.
Please use the checklist on Page 3 of your application to make sure your application is complete. Your completed application must be emailed to Ms. Megan Woo (see below) by December 21, 2012. When your application has been received, you will be contacted by e‐mail or phone to inform you regarding the location and time of your required interviews.
