Weizmann Day School, New Horizon School, and St. Mark’s School warmly invite the community to attend their annual interfaith concert honoring Daniel Pearl on October 24, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. The concert will take place on the Weizmann Day School campus located at the Pasadena Jewish Temple & Center at 1434 N. Altadena Drive in Pasadena. The concert is free and open to the public.
Daniel Pearl was an accomplished journalist and musician who was killed by terrorists while on assignment in Pakistan in 2002. This special concert brings together Jewish, Muslim, and Christian elementary and middle school children to sing songs of peace and understanding. This local event is part of the global Daniel Pearl World Music Days concert series (www.danielpearlmusicdays.org), an international network of concerts honoring Daniel Pearl. Celebrated in October to commemorate Pearl’s birthday, the Daniel Pearl World Music Days have included over 13,900 performances across 140 countries. Of those, this is the only interfaith youth event.
Daniel Pearl’s parents, Dr. Judea and Ruth Pearl, often attend the Pasadena event, and they have been invited to attend this year’s October 24 concert. City, state, and federal elected officials also have attended in past years and they are invited again this year.
This year’s concert is especially meaningful in light of the political climate today. “Each year, the Daniel Pearl Concert fills me with hope for the future,” said Lisa Feldman, Weizmann Day School Head of School. “When the children from these three faith communities take the stage, we hear their beautiful voices and we know that peace is possible. The children’s performances embody Daniel Pearl’s commitment to music and to peace. It is a life affirming experience.”
Weizmann Day School invite the community to join them for this wonderful event.
