Pasadena School Board Meets Thursday, Will Discuss Survey Results and District’s Educational Master Plan

The Pasadena Unified School District Board of Education will meet Thursday, September 8, to deliberate on an Educational Master Plan Report and on a five-year Road Map that presents a vision of the optimal future of PUSD and details the essential elements that will lead to a quality learning environment for PUSD students.

The Educational Master Plan (EMP) Report contains research, data, study findings, survey results, stakeholder input, and ultimately a set of recommendations to inform decision-making.

The Road Map, guided by the 2016 Parent Survey results and other stakeholder recommendations, lays out the action steps over the next five years that will focus on providing all PUSD schools with academic rigor, school safety and security, customer responsiveness, and equity and access.

PUSD staff will present drafts of these two significant documents for the Board of Education members to deliberate on.

Aside from the Road Map and the Educational Master Plan, the Board of Education will also act on a recommendation by PUSD staff to approve the School Accountability Plans/Single Plan for Student Achievement (SAP/SPSA) for Blair High School.

School plans are required on an annual basis to address specific actions that will increase student achievement for all students and addresses specific targets for other areas such as safety climates and parent/community engagement. These plans must be approved by their School Site Council and the Board of Education.

The Board of Education will also deliberate on PUSD staff’s recommendation to approve and certify the filing of the 2015-2016 Unaudited Actual financial data to the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE). This data is prepared in accordance with Education Code Section 41010 and approved and filed by the Governing Board of the school district pursuant to Education Code Section 42100.
The Board of Education meets at Pasadena Unified’s Elbie J. Hickambottom Board Room, at 351 South Hudson Avenue in Pasadena, starting at 5:30 p.m. For the agenda, please see: http://pusd.granicus.com/GeneratedAgendaViewer.php?view_id=15&event_id=294
