Pasadena Unified Open Enrollment Second Lottery Takes Place at OpenEnrollment.Info

The Pasadena Unified School District’s (PUSD) second Open Enrollment application period for the 2015-16 academic year starts Monday, March 23 at 9:00 a.m. and continues through Friday, March 27, 2015 at midnight. Limited spaces remain at many PUSD schools for this round of open enrollment.

Open Enrollment is the district’s school of choice program that offers students the opportunity to attend schools with themed or specialized programs or a campus other than their school of residence. Students wishing to participate in the Open Enrollment second lottery must be entering kindergarten-11th grade next school year, be residing within PUSD boundaries and have not yet registered at a school during a previous phase of the 2015-16 school year Open Enrollment process.

To participate in PUSD’s Open Enrollment, families need to complete the 2015-2016 application available exclusively online at www.openenrollment.info. Only one application may be submitted per student. Applicants may select from one to five school and/or program choices in order of preference. School placement is by random lottery and is not based on when an application is submitted. PUSD families participating in Open Enrollment will be notified of school placement by Friday, April 10, 2015.
There are new school attendance boundaries in place for the 2015-2016 School Year. Families can visit gopusd.com/locator to see their new PUSD schools of residence. Any child presently attending a school outside of their attendance boundary will not have to change schools next year.

Families living outside of PUSD boundaries may also submit an Application of Interest at openenrollment.info this week for limited spots that may be available in the district’s magnet schools and signature programs. Non-PUSD families will be notified about their status beginning Friday, May 1, 2015.

Families can access openenrollment.info and receive assistance with the open enrollment process at the PUSD Early Education Extravaganza on Wednesday, March 25. At the PUSD Early Education Extravaganza, families can register prospective kindergarten students for their school of residence, meet PUSD kindergarten teachers, discover summer “kinder prep” options and learn about district preschool options. The Early Education Extravaganza will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the McKinley School Library, 325 S. Oak Knoll Avenue in Pasadena (free parking available across Oak Knoll Avenue at the PUSD Education Center.
