Pasadena Unified Presents Ready, Set, Kindergarten!

Continuing its 2014-2015 series of parent education seminars, the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) presents Ready. Set. Kindergarten!, an informative and interactive session to help parents of prospective kindergarteners prepare for the next school year. Presented by PUSD early childhood education teachers, the seminars include information on how to prepare young students for the first day of kindergarten, an introduction to the kindergarten curriculum, and fun, interactive learning activities for families. The event will take place Tuesday, October 28 at 9 a.m. at Willard Elementary School in Southeast Pasadena.

To be eligible for kindergarten in PUSD, a child must turn five years old by Sept. 1, 2015. Transitional kindergarten, providing age appropriate instruction to students born later in the year before they progress to a traditional kindergarten class, is also offered for children who turn five between September 2, 2015 and December 2, 2015.

Parents and guardians can begin registering incoming kindergarten students by visiting their local PUSD campus starting early 2015. Parents can also select any PUSD elementary school with space available through the district’s Open Enrollment process that begins in January 2015. Parents are welcome to visit and tour PUSD schools throughout the year. Call schools for schedules.

Parent education seminars are sponsored by PUSD’s Family Resource Center, which supports parents, teachers and staff in building partnerships for student achievement. For more information and for other parent education opportunities, visit www.pusd.us and click on Families.
