“Volunteering has always been part of my life, so when my children entered public school, it was a very natural thing to find out what I could do to help,” said Ms. Lin. “I get energized and inspired by the kids

“She has been with Field since the inception of the dual immersion Mandarin program, and works tirelessly to help the program succeed,” said Field Elementary School Principal Daniel Bagby. “The fact that Tien-Lin is bilingual in English and Mandarin is a tremendous asset and is very helpful to the teachers and students. She is truly the volunteer of the year.”

“I hope that the students at Field have a fun and enriching experience learning both Mandarin and English, and be able to use both languages,” said Ms. Lin. “I hope they have an opportunity to travel or to work in the local community with people who speak Mandarin.”
