Pasadena Waldorf School’s grade 5 joined SoCal Waldorf schools last Friday for the annual Pentathlon! The school expresses its appreciate to Waldorf School of Santa Barbara for hosting the event. The Pentathlon is part of the Hands in Peace movement, a tradition in the fifth grade curriculum of Waldorf Schools, as well as in many public and private schools across the United States. The event adapts the ancient Greek Olympics for children and celebrates common humanity and cultural diversity with non-competitive activities.
From Ms.Gould, PWS Games Teacher – “Before the start of the games, I said to the children, ‘By competing in this festival, your job is to make sure you reach out in friendship to other students here – extend your hand, share your name, and find out something about them.”
